The person behind the thinking

Business thinking, engineered into something useful.

For more than two decades, Simon Hodgkinson has worked at the intersection of digital publishing, commercial strategy and software creation. His recurring question is deceptively simple: how can an independent entrepreneur do more with the knowledge and resources already within reach?

01 / The foundation

Not another AI expert who arrived yesterday.

Long before generative AI became a headline, Simon was building and publishing digital products, developing commercial offers, and exploring how small businesses could compete without the resources of much larger organisations.

That work took him through digital publishing, direct-response marketing, membership products and software licensing. It produced a lasting interest in the same underlying problem: talented people often recognise valuable opportunities but lack an efficient way to turn those ideas into marketable assets.

His background is commercial as much as technical. He thinks about who the customer is, what the customer will pay for, what the product must do, and what needs to be removed before technology enters the conversation.

The interesting question is not how much technology you can build. It is how little complexity you need to deliver something genuinely valuable.
An approach shaped by practice
Find the commercial signal

Start with real customer problems, behaviour and economics rather than enthusiasm for a new tool.

Structure before automation

Give the AI a defined job, a useful process, constraints and a quality standard worth checking.

Own the useful outcome

Where suitable, create portable software assets that can be improved, deployed and commercialised on your own terms.

02 / From prompts to production

AI wasn't the destination. It was a new production method.

When custom AI systems became widely accessible, Simon saw an opportunity beyond generating more text. What if everyday founders could package their expertise into repeatable tools, rather than starting each task from a blank chat window?

That thinking led to GPT Creator Pro, and later to Prompt Tool Factory: a framework that helps users define, design, build, test and refine focused software applications through ordinary language and structured AI-assisted development.

As AI platforms evolved, he extended the work into AI Skills and more deliberate, reusable workflows. The emphasis remained consistent: human judgement sets the direction; technology helps turn the specification into a working asset.

Not every idea belongs in a standalone browser app. But for those that do, lightweight HTML, CSS and JavaScript can provide a practical alternative to unnecessary software infrastructure. The ability to choose that simpler route is part of the advantage.

03 / The thinking behind the book

Why The Triad Paradigm had to be written.

After years spent creating products and examining why some business models build momentum while others stall, Simon brought his thinking together in The Triad Paradigm. Its central argument is that durable business advantage emerges when three forces reinforce one another: demand, aligned capital and innovation arbitrage.

The book is not a celebration of technology for its own sake. It is an invitation to identify the structural opportunities others overlook, test them intelligently and build with discipline. The companion Triad Opportunity Lab helps readers apply that thinking to an idea or business of their own.

The bigger idea

Give independent builders a real shot.

Simon's work is grounded in a conviction that practical business intelligence and software-building capability should not be reserved for organisations with large teams and substantial funding.

Better tools cannot guarantee a market, replace judgement or remove the need to earn customers. But they can make the first working experiment more accessible. And sometimes that is the difference between a good idea being abandoned and an idea getting a fair test.

That is the thread connecting the book, the software and the businesses built around them.
